WHY WE DO....

Alright alright alright.. so i here the biggest, best, brightest mag has fallen or at least gotten a lot smaller as said on our biggest forum of paintball "Pbnation." So after hard thinking and working with friends and shit, I decided to produce a blog related to the real news. What paintball needs is real news and with legitimacy. Our ESPN of sports commentating and related paintball news have fallen!! 1st, 2nd and 3rd generation fucks must know that this is ultimate!! As of right now anyone who has not been playing or been in the industry for at least 15 years I don't necessarily give a fuck because what you don't understand is the our beloved history and story telling is vastly disappearing!!
Rock Cagnoni!!!!! Are you fucking kidding me!!!! The Angel wings and 50% of all your tatts on your Italian body is built around the WDP camp!!! Shit I understand that money is involved for you to be involve with Dye and Proto but shit!!! You my friend have been a JT WDP REDS supporter for years and I will not let our past be the forgotten. The kids these days think to re manufacture you now makes you a follower of one. Your past is where its taking you in the future. Your past shaped what paintball is today. I feel the strain of how the monsters of our industry has to market but lets be real. I don't know who the new Jt dude is doing the marketing but please pick up the now super skinnie ass apg and remind yourself how we thought this mag was a bible of the sport from advertising, stories and information. Jt brings back old shit!! The pics in their add was sick!!!. Every one from old Image with Travis and the Twins, to Hunter Bob Long and his Captain Morgans pose. To the inconspicuous pics of Dave and Shane in there JTMX gear. And of course.... Rocky Cagnoni. yes yes yes i understand sign of the times bla bla bla. Mags are going to disappear like Rose from Unique and all us ballers will be dust.

Since we now have bloggers hoping to create the buzz of our not so imaginative and unfruitful future, I will deliver the past. The greatest time of the Industry. I understand now there is going to a rat race to make news from anyone... and i like that the more news of our great sport good, or bad is still worth reading and working with. This we don't have to compete and stab each other with. TIME TO START GIVING A SHIT

THE LAST FKT UP INTERVIEW WITH PGI

APRIL 1, 2008 PGI INTERVIEW
Hey Chris,
I'm doing a piece in our news
section about you picking up that fighter, so just
wanted to ask a couple questions for it:
1) How did this come about, and what inspired you to
sign a UFC fighter?
Ever since we heard about amateur mma fighters wearing our Contract Killer board shorts for fights and us being fans of the sport, we starting seriously looking into getting into the industry. We now have a full line of mma fight shorts, T-shirts, hoodies, hats and more.
If you recall, where originally Hybrid came from MMA. My good friend of mine by the name of Wayne Chan had ventured into the sport almost 11 years ago producing Vale tudo shorts, shirts and fight accessories.. Even Bob Longs Ironmen back in the day was wearing the branded Provinggroundz.com logo at the apex of their time. From there we had got together to form what was at the time hybrid technologies paintball, making accessories and after-market hard-parts for the paintball industry.. While here in this industry, we were known for calling our sponsored players Contract Killers now producing a line of Contract killer clothing, players gear and accessories.. This has been going on for nearly 5 years since the inception of the company..

Now, the full circle begins when amateur fighters in Los Angles began wearing Contract killer clothing to the ring.. We began our quest to observe, learn and research a now booming industry. The industry is not far from how paintball is except for the internal fighting.. As most of us know as veterans of the sport, a company called I n I sports were huge in the mma and paintball mail order almost for the past 20 years! It seems evident that we come to terms with this and our brand. the loyalty and respect of both industries as far as fans have already embraced this and we are proud to be part of it. As far as Hybrid fight gear 11 years ago, the industry was not always together until now. We began working with fighter Aaron Miller from the AAO training center in Monrovia. From their we have been promoting fights one saturday night a month.
2) Are you looking to possibly pick up any more MMA
fighters?
We get phone calls daily from fighters wanting to wear our gear and we plan on signing some major fighters in the near future. As for now we plan to do a grassroots campaign as we did in paintball.. Promoting smaller leagues, fighters and slowly gain the recognition we have so long got in paintball. We all now that paintball is hitting a all time low wether its the constant bickering of the leagues, industry and now the smart shopper who now knows the imminent technology halt.
On a side note, in our "Soldiers of Misfortune" dvd, we did a full day work out at Relsdon Gracies gym in Hawaii. I have worked out there before in the past and their more famous instructors out of that gym, Rexie, is also a player in one of the few paintballl teams from the islands, team Homegrown, KND, and team 50. Nicky Vegas from XSV is now a 3-0 Brazilian jujitsu fighter out of New York. The circle is small!
3) Do you think you'd make for a better TV show than
those Tapout guys?
Can you imagine a reality show on us? mma fighters playing paintball and vice versa. Lets do it! As in the past, there have been known celebrity fighters that we know that are avid paintballs enthusiasts. From Tim Silvia to Dan Henderson. We as a paintball industry should look at how MMA has taken off because that was suppose to be our spot before we got into heavy politics within the industry. We should be looking at t.v. like they did. We are no less entertaining than two people beating each other up! We both bleed, we both break bones! If it wasn't for referees, both industries would be illegal! Thats when we have become extreme sports! That's good TV!Published by bill
I’m honestly somewhat shocked to be reporting this, and at the same time it doesn’t really surprise me with the current state of the United States economy being slowly flushed down the proverbial toilet.
Hybrid Paintball has published a very emotional press release, with a companion video titled “end Movie”, to their website. The tone of the release is laced with anger, hate, sorrow, remorse, and sadness at the current state of the paintball industry. The release is being interpreted by many other “sketchy” paintball news sites that Hybrid is calling it quits and disbanding.

However, it seems that Hybrid is merely stepping down its levels of production and output for the current time period while it can acquire its footing. At no point in the release does Hybrid state “we’re through”. Hybrid does state that:

Once more.. We are still here, not like how we do, but we are still here. Production I still have and whatever I got that you want. I have, till the industry warrants it. And if it warrants it I’ll make more.
For those who are new to the sport, this won’t affect you at all. In fact, reading over the press release won’t bring about any emotion whatsoever. However, veterans know that Hybrid has been involved in a serious struggle with both wholesalers and foreign manufacturers regarding their products. The strain of legal battles has apparently been enough to seriously impact Hybrid Paintball as a company. Veterans know exactly what Hybrid is talking about when they speak of cancer and industry monopolies.wwwk

MARCH 1, 2008
THE AGE OF CHANGE

To everyone in the paint-ball community,

With the current situation of an economic melt down. We are going to be in the situation of change.. Not just our company but the community of paint-ball as we know it. Most importantly, our country.

We see the dying of paint-ball dealerships almost every day. We have seen and been involved in the constant bickering of paint-ball manufacturers to not alleviate an ridiculous infrastructure of an ever changing paint-ball community.. What we see is conglomerates and umbrella companies slowly try to corner it and kill, or be killed.

Competition is progress. But when there is none, You have become a monopoly. A beast that becomes fat and become a cancer to its own body. Now we fight internally.. From disgracing the new player to never having a good time, to the recballer who gives a damn about nothing but playing and if a field is not around or he thinks that his local field only caters to other so called “important non-paying types”, he becomes renegade … lawless. To the dealer, who cannot figure out why no one comes in their store. To the dealer that decides to devalue industry product because they are now in survival mode to make ends meet. To the manufacturer who now must do the same to help with dealer margins, but bleeds its own margins and soon must be hasty in their decision making… We must stop and start reflecting!

Players will not feel this because you have the options to stay home and play online but know its always best to go play our sport like you should. Players have the luxury to love and hate brands to prove a point not knowing that this industry right this very moment, ONLY NEEDS GROWTH, the growth of competition, the growth to be better ambassadors to the new, the old, and the ones who have fallen to a disenfranchised love of the sport. The west is feeling the crunch, east will follow soon enough. Soon their will be nothing you decide what you want, that is the day the industry as a whole may be destroyed.

We have stepped sideways because first off, we can, and secondly, the consumer, the dealer are simply not buying how they use too. To the consumer that can afford to pay in other industries good money, but is educated to go cheap in paint-ball. If you cant afford it, you just cant afford it. HOWEVER, what must be done is to let new people embrace our sport so we can grow. To also provide a service to the community that we are legit. When we do, fields are easily accessible.

Now working on other industry where competition is fierce, they still maintain order, respect, right to fight, but keep the margins in check so its industry will not implode. Buyers still buy. No matter what. You can see it by their own conventions…

At this time I say we need a united front, a governing body, with two common goals; to thrive in our great industry, and to keep the industry from failing. We so love this sport? Then each player has a responsibility to improve it.

History is repeating-itself and the more you see it then you begin to believe that the harvest did not justify to reseed because of a long winter. And we need to hold on to the fabric that made us great. to conserve, to demand, to supply must all come into play.

We are a luxury sport, but when dad loses a job, or your parents lose their homes, who plays? who wins? most importantly, who survives? furthermore, who controls?

Once more.. We are still here, not like how we do, but we are still here. Production I still have and whatever I got that you want. I have, till the industry warrants it. And if it warrants it I’ll make more. And when I can get up to lick my wounds, heal, and get up off my feet and feel like I need to do something, I’m coming after you.. To the loyalists: I got a lot more in the war-chest that these fools haven’t thought of yet! Just wait and see.. To my killers.. I will make things right.

MY LAST GREAT INTERVIEW WITH PGI

> Aw, shit! Sorry, Chris, been outta town for the
> holiday- I'll re-send that damn fax.
>
> Hey, and while I've got you, could you please fill
> out
> this interview for me? If you could have it to me by
> this weekend (yes, I know it's Friday, sorry) that
> would rule! This holiday has got me behind, plus, I
> thought I'd sent this off already. Could you send me
> an e-mail so I'll know you got this okay? I'll re-do
> the fax, and try to get this all finished up.

> Okay, here's the interview, talk to you soon! Oh
> yeah,
> and if there's anything else you want to include,
> feel
> free, if there's anything else at all you want to
> vent
> about just let me know:
> Chris Corcino/Hybrid Interview:
>
> 1) Can you give us a background on the company, how
> it
> got started, and just who was there in the
> beginning?
the company was a dream between me and Little John of Legacy. how it began was a very long story. how its goin is the true journey and the journey right now is awesome. John and i knew each during the days of paintball junkies. as the original other owner of junkies, i had sponsored the bushwhackers. Ron Kilborn had introduced me to Little John as his greatest player on the squad. at that time, i was also introduced to a young mike paxton and tyler michaud who now plays for dynasty. after a few years of knowing each other we crossed paths as employees within the paintball industry and from knowing how each other worked and played we made the move to become partners to the best rising paintball company in the world. we started just last year to launch our full product campaign and we have never looked back.
> 2) Who’s with the group now, who’s stuck around, and
> who’s new?
we like to keep the family a secret but because we are in that new limelight, the family we call the “pride” is 13 deep all with specific roles from designing, research and development, sourcing, accounting, shipping and straight up hustlin’. our newest is Jen, who we call “Number9”. she's my muse and prodigal designer. she’s just gangsta. next is big dave falcon and Gary shows. Gary and i go way back from whacker days and have been a former business partner. together back in the day we did so much work for paintball. first thing in the pride is loyalty. you break it we break you. second is commitment to your job. we expect 100 percent on top of the supposed 100 percent you are going to get paid for. third, no one is more important than the other. we all have roles that revolve around each other. one falls, we all pick up the slack. beer also helps
> 3) As I mentioned before, this is going in our ‘bad
> boy’ issue, which made me think of you. Explain how
> Hybrid has managed to cultivate this image for
> itself
> in such a successful way.
we have always designed to influence and it works. because we are from paintball, we know what we like and se also try to dictate how we will be followed and who are our followers. we could give a rat ass if we are liked. the more hate, the more inspiration. show no love and they seem to admire you more. we love what we do and don't just put out stuff people have seen. i like to put out what now one has not seen. i believe that new looks is looking back to old time periods. now like hemp, everything is recyclable. you just need to know how to forecast. there was a day we laughed at camo and saying “bullets” instead of paintballs. or looking like the oddball because you never used true paintball equipment. now anything goes. bahalana is what we’d say back home. we are only revolutionary because we have revolted. to start a revolution, there must be bloodshed. we have bled for paintball. we have had our back stabbed sooo many times that now its time to stab back.
> 4) The subversive, antiestablishment feel of the
> company obviously jibes with the whole tournament
> Paintball scene and ‘lifestyle’, but as the artist
> in
> the company you must have an influence outside of
> the
> sport- what has inspired your creations?
i spend the morning eating a cigarette, drinkin a Rockstar, gorging on spicy pork rinds. then after the first 5 new hate mails, i turn on some good ass music like Matisyahu and some underground canadian hip hop that i got from Josh davey and Danny miller. then i choose 10 old magazines to look at with my morning shit and the balloons of creativity fill the bathroom. then penguins come to gossip, its fuckin hilarious. Influences, they vary from day to day. i can take anything to build on then got nuts, thats when john has take me down from my high and show me to reality. i love my job. john and i always fight on how far i should go and when i should stop. we keeps asking each other “is paintball ready for this?” there are also times of despair and the survival skills kick in. the family fort gets the ass-end of it all and it kills me. like most who own their own company, no one but yourself knows how much sacrifice you do. it use to be fun, but not only do you try to take care of family, you got 13 others that need that same attention.
> 5) You mentioned at Huntington Beach that you were
> sort of lying low in anticipation of ‘blowing up’
> later in the year, and upon seeing you at the World
> Cup in Orlando I saw first hand just what you were
> talking about. How does it feel to shoulder in with
> the big boys with the Hybrid trailer and customized
> truck?
at first we all felt odd. alot were surprised and some were pissed. i think no one could get enough of how we blew up. it was a matter of time and we needed to feel reinvented. we need to show our roots and the truck and trailor showed it well. we are artists and ballers and we hoped it showed. the greatest power we have is the belief in ourselves. people despise us only because we keep our roots deep within our loyalists and our contract killers. we try to stay loyal to all who admire what we do and where we came from. the truck is nothing to us. even the space we have to pay to be there. we can still be in the big tent with all the other knuckleheads, we’ll always be treated the same. the truck shows that we now can afford an attorney, a big ass yacht, and a gas guzzling caddy. plus its great for the ladies.
Photobucket
> 6) We saw the release of some nifty new gear from
> you
> guys already, most notably the Suicide Shell for
> HALO
> users out there, can you tell us a bit about that,
> and
> the other new goodies? You’ve got a full line of
> playing clothes on the way too, correct?
we had come out with a shit load of stuff of the the 06 lineup and now being just at the beginning of the year, we have sold out of our first lots before the end of the year. the response is incredible!. the products we showcased are all new. we had worked so hard to get the campaign goin. the suicide shell is not even close to all of the inventive products we are showcasing. this year, we will be introducing a traitor proto. we hope that the success of this year precedes us. their are many products we are trying to introduce. but we are still a one man army, we don't let our fans down. we are working really hard to get all these things before the copycats come out to play.

> 7) What keeps you going in this sport, what’s the
> reward for grinding through all the politics and
> drama? It shouldn’t be news to anyone that the
> Paintball business isn’t for the faint of heart.
what keeps me goin... hmmm that's a hard one. i know that if i continue the fight i most undoublty lose all.. this means that the sacrifice i do will be my demise as an individual. i have given up so much that it hurts the people i do it for. my partner know exactly what i mean. when they push, i push harder and that might mean i have to step on a few necks to get my point across. there are people who just want us to fail because we are such a wall to their success. too bad we bring such a bigger hammer to the industry.
> 8) Possessing some of the coolest product on the
> planet surely makes you a big target for sponsorship
> pleas. What advice do you have for the masses that
> are
> looking to add a Hybrid logo to their jerseys?
talk to gary.

WHAT WE ARE DOING

www.modefydworld.com
www.contractkillerclothing.com
www.myspace.com/contractkillermma
Unfortunately we are doing really good in Mixed Martial Arts world, we have embraced unlike paintball. We are always called in to help in many ways.. we are so reserved because of how pball is and how we had to deal with bs in the pass. we are saddened that pball is not what it should be and in other industries including mma has thrived.. we believed its the heads of pball..

I've done everything from junkies to kapp, xtreme to cobra, 32 and diablo and i realize when they know I'm on my own they want to shit.

I understand that.. but compete in branding, better news and all that.. yes its a bad situation when your top 3 and hated.. i believe it.

but as far as pball we are still here and selling, dealers are buying and its not our products its the dealer not doing what they should and the greater whole. no one comes in and buy no more.. i have warned and warned but it seems like its not news..

i tried to post but i get banned even on the new site. but for some reason its gotten extremely political and sad.. no looking outside the box and in the mma spotlight, it seems paintball has been the one that's been so picky.we are literally in our own world and not accepted anywhere else.ppl generally know nothing about the pro paintball world, just the woods world. and 50% of them care nothing about rules, politics and all that..
I can rant all day and get off track but yea, definitely better place, I have a lot in store in paintball, will it be embraced? I dont know. It seems no one buys..

WHO WE ARE (reporting with a face!!)

Well into the 2003 season, Lil John Marques of the world famous Bob Longs IRONMEN otherwise known as the Oakland Assassins of the NXL federation began his career in the industry as part of the staff at National Paintball supply in Los Angeles.
After being with the likes of Chris Corcino, former owner of Paintball Junkies creator of one of the most diverse advertising and graphic artists, they began a quest to design and produce well-known products of X Enterprises System-X line. Within 2 and half years of being fed up at Xtreme Enterprises, they began to work on their own line of products called HYBRID TECHNOLOGIES.
After months of research and design, the product line that included performance after market products for the Intimidator, E-matrix, Cocker and the Impulse was coming into a reality. With already strong followers like Oakland Assassins, Miami Effect, INFAMOUS, DYNASTY, STP and Hostile Takeover as sponsored teams. Individuals that matter like Tyler Michaud, Todd “TMONEY” Martinez and “the Desperado” Pepe Escutia are the new list of Pro-Ballers with signature series products inspired by them. The hybrid brigade has started a new cult following even as far as Japan and Europe. With such design oriented products and performance to boot, the response of Hybrid Technologies have been one of the most sought off products to date. Always on the cutting edge, the crew begins a creative process in hopes to create a marker of their own in the near future.
With now the release of their new clothing line “CONTRACT KILLER” designer and VP Chris Corcino uses his own definitive artwork to create a line based on the true nature of a sponsored player. Inspired by underground art and youth oriented marketing, this clothing will be a crossover not only by the paintball industry but other extreme sports as well.
Only three years old, Hybrid is independently owned and operated, the Hybrid brigade is globally recognized as the premier custom builders of paintball industry. You thought you had the vision till we rolled up.

Brandon Lambertson (reporting)
Born in La Palma California in 1976,. I have been around paintball since 1989. Got my start working at a hobby store that carried paintball guns, then moved on to a full blown paintball store "Action Sport" which was owned by Greg Sullivan, who's parents owned ACI - Air Concept Industries. I went on to help build Jungle Island Paintball Park and work at ACI before I opened my own store, Xtreme Sports in 1996. From there I started Liquid Paintball, which was my own line of after market parts. I invented the very first "SCREW APART" two piece barrel called the Liquid X-Type. I made the VERY first carrying handle for the back of your guns, which I named the "Snatch Grip", a common, factory stock item on most guns today. Before Reds and Unique, I put the first weight belt on paintball harnesses. I started team "Liquid Factory", which rostered young unknowns at the time that went on to become some of today's top pros. I have played on teams like HammerHeads (2 time 5-man GWS series Champs), Outsiders (2 time 10-man GWS series Champs) Check It Factory, BushWackers, SC Ironmen, Miami Effect and LA Infamous. I won my first event ever as a pro and went on to win the World Championship title that same year with the SC Ironmen. I went on to play for the original NXL team Miam Effect. I was apart of the end to Dynasty's reign in 7man when Miami Effect defected from the NXL and became Infamous which reunited all the pro teams from both the NXL and NPPL and brought back the true competition that both leagues were missing.
